Q: Can I take the test as a team if I work with another person / spouse to handle claims?
A: If you work as a team with someone else who does not do their own claims, you can take the test as a team. Please keep in mind that USAA will not allow you to work as individuals if you have previously told them you will be working as a team and tested as a team. Please list both names on the test but the primary name (the name of the Adjuster who will be responsible for the claim) will be at the top and the other name at the bottom of the test. The pricing for testing as a team is the cost of the class each as we charge for the seat and not for the test. Make sure that you fill out 2 registration forms for both members of the team if both members of the team plan to attend.
Q: I have been an Adjuster less than 3 years but I have many years of experience as a Contractor. Can I still take the test?
A: USAA requires 3 Years of experience as an
Adjuster before you can work for them. If you have Construction
experience or experience assisting Adjusters, please contact
Jay
Crisp or
Tom Jefferies at our office and we can advise you
on a case by case basis.
Q: I have very little experience with Xactimate. Should I still take the test?
A: In order to take the USAA test you need to KNOW how to use Xactimate the way that USAA uses it. This means Sketch for roofs and rooms as well as estimating through sketch. It is very unlikely that someone that is just learning Xactimate will pass this test; however, we do provide a comprehensive study guide which includes sample test questions. We will offer a required full day of Xactimate review the day before the test. This along with the study guide (which will be emailed to you after you register) will help you greatly in passing the test.
Q: I am already USAA Certified but I want to take the review session on Xactimate and not take the test. Can I do that?
A: Unfortunately our space is very limited for this testing so we cannot let people attend just for the review session. We will be make available some of the documents at some point in the future which you can use to sharpen your Xactimate skills or you can look to our Xactimate Classes listed on our website.
Q: I have taken the test twice this year already and not passed it. Can I test again?
A: USAA limits each person to two (2) attempts to pass the USAA Certification test each year. If you have already taken the test twice and not passed you must wait until next year to try again.
Q: What version of Xactimate do I need to have on my computer to take the test? Can that version be a demo version?
A: USAA is currently on Xactimate 27.1 for their claims but will be moving to 27.3 in a few months. A demo version will be ok to test with. The review session will be taught using Xactimate 27.1.
Q: I hear that USAA requires a background check and a drug screening. Is that done on the same day as the test?
A: Yes, USAA does require RJMW to conduct a background check and a drug screen. RJMW will conduct the background check and schedule the drug screening once you pass the test. There is no cost to you for these items. A form will be provided to you at the testing for your permission to conduct the backgrounds once you have passed the USAA test. You will be contacted about a date to do the drug screening.
Q: My USAA Certification is good for another year but I want to go ahead and get it out of the way, can I do that? If I fail the test this time do I loose my last year of eligibility?
A: Your USAA certification is good for the period from 3 years since you last obtained it. Taking the test again does not void your current status as USAA Certified. It is a good idea to get it out of the way so you do not have to worry about it in the middle of a storm.
Q: If I take the USAA Certification Test with another Independent Adjusting Company do I need to take it again for RJMW to work USAA claims with RJMW?
A: Your USAA certification is good for any IA Company including RJMW that handle claims for USAA. You can test with us or any company that offers the USAA Certification test. If you do take the test with another IA company we request that you send us a certificate that you have passed the test including the IA company that you took the test with and the date that you tested.
